hi,

We are not using Veritas Netbakcup cluster environment, but I want to have some knowledge on how it works if any media server fails suddenly.

Please share your inputs and any tech note links.

Thanks,

Soumya.

Only Master servers can be clustered, not media servers.

To cater for media server failure, create Storage Unit Groups and assign backups to these STUG's instead of specific Storage Units. Backups will not automatically failover to another media server if media server fails halfway through a backup, but a retry (default in NBU is 2 tries every 12 hours) will use the next available Storage Unit. More about Storage Unit Groups and the different failover criteria in NBU Admin Guide I: http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3653
