ello,

I have a problem whe i try to log on into the admin GUI,

I used to run the command /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA $ from the masterserver exporting the display using Xming and the java application started witout problem, however today when I try to login, I can't do it.

The applications shows this message: "NetBackup could not initiate a trust relationship with host hostname. Ensure that your Domain Name Service (DNS) resolves the hostname to the correct IP address and check network connectivity".

When i see the log of the applications it shows the following messages:

DISPLAY environment variable is set to: localhost:11.0
Console was started on:
        Linux srvbackup 3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon May 5 11:16:57 EDT 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Command line options were:
        /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/jnbSA $

Starting administration console version 7.6.1.

i{ve checked the services and the port 1556 is opend under the service  /opt/VRTSpbx/bin/pbx_exchange as you can see:

[root@srvbackup bin]# netstat -tulpn | grep 1556
tcp        0      0 0.0.0.0:1556            0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN      2639/pbx_exchange
tcp6       0      0 :::1556                 :::*                    LISTEN      2639/pbx_exchange

this is the bpps -x output:

I don't see nbatd in your NB process list.

= = = = =

Establishment of connection could fail if:

  • Host configuration or Domain Name Service (DNS) could not resolve host name as found in the X.509 certificate from machine executing NetBackup Java Administrator Console.
  • nbatd service on the host is not started.

I have already restarted the netbackup services in the masterServer, but it didn't show the nbatd process.

Check your bp.conf. Does it say

USE_VXSS = AUTOMATIC

or

USE_VXSS = PROHIBITED

diegomauricior
Level 3

Say it

CONNECT_OPTIONS = localhost 1 0 2
USE_VXSS = PROHIBITED
VXSS_SERVICE_TYPE = INTEGRITYANDCONFIDENTIALITY

On the master server what does this show:

ls -lash /usr/openv/pack

What version of NetBackup is the Master Server running?

And just for completeness, version of OS of the Master Server?

diegomauricior
Level 3

On Master Server:

Version of Netbackup: 7.6.1

OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.0 (Maipo)

I don't like breaking bad news...

...but...

RHEL 7 requires a minimum of v7.6.1.1 for "NetBackup Server".

v7.6.1 base of "NetBackup Server" on RHEL 7 is not supported.

See:

Thank you for your help, I understand your point of view, however, Netbackup was working well until yesterday, I don't know what happened.

Although technically unsupported - and appears to have been working until the other day - so it should be (kind of) working now - so let's just check that the master server appears to be up-ish:

...on the master server do:

uname -a

free -g

df -h

cat /usr/openv/netbackup/version

cat /etc/redhat-release

cat /usr/openv/var/global/server.conf

nbemmcmd -getemmserver

nbemmcmd -listhosts

bpdbjobs -summary

vpoprcmd -devmon hs

bpps -x

Just to see what the state is.

And I know that you have already checked the "naming" side of things, but could I be so bold as to ask you to just check the following:

...yes I know I'm asking for some commands to be done twice...

...on the master server:

hostname

ifconfig

cat /etc/hosts

cat /etc/resolv.conf

bpclntcmd -self

bpclntcmd -pn

bpclntcmd -hn $HOSTNAME

bpclntcmd -hn $HOSTNAME

nslookup $HOSTNAME

nslookup $HOSTNAME

# and for the address that you think master server is supposed to be using for NetBackup, do...

nslookup x.x.x.x

nslookup x.x.x.x

bpclntcmd -ip x.x.x.x

bpclntcmd -ip x.x.x.x

bptestnetconn -v -a -s

All looks ok to me.

.

Can I suggest you do this on the master:

bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache

...and then try the GUI again.
