The available Symantec documentation does not explicitly mention Solaris 11. That is why I have suggested that you open a support call to request clarity.

Which version of NBU are you trying to install?

Solaris 11 is supported as NBU client as well server as from version 7.1.
See  NetBackup 7 Operating System (CL) for Client,Server,Dedupe,OpsCenter,BMR,SAN Client,MSEO:    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648

Solaris 10 zone support is hopefully applicable to Solaris 11 as well:

Support for NetBackup 7.x in virtual environments: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127089

if you need 100% confirmation, I suggest you open a support call and request written confirmation.

thanks for your support Marianne van den Berg

But on Solaris 10 virtualization define partittion is Zone (container), that dedicate hardware for partition and on Solaris 11, Virtualization is logical domain (same Vmware, using virtual hardware). I want to be sure about backup OS image for Solaris 10 for hyperviosr (firmware virtualization) and logical domain (virtual machine), Hope some document about this

Thanks, but in this instance I would rather see the Solution cleared until we have a definitive reply from Symantec with updated TN's...

The interest of the greater Community is what matters here.... (although the points are appreciated! cheeky)

Hi. I don't know is this a valid way to configure Solaris 11 Netbackup client but it works fine for me :

1. I use solaris 10 client and make the copy of binaries to client server :

client name : pase-db-01-bck

user on solaris 11 : admin

[root@bckp ~]# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/install_client_files sftp pase-db-01-bck admin
       pase-db-01-bck ...
Client pase-db-01-bck -- Solaris hardware running Solaris10
Installing NetBackup software on pase-db-01-bck as user admin
Connecting to pase-db-01-bck...
Password:

sftp completed successfully.

The root user on pase-db-01-bck must now execute the command
"sh /tmp/bp.6910/client_config [-L]".  The optional argument, "-L",
is used to avoid modification of the client's current bp.conf file.
       pase-db-01-bck install complete

2. In the client, with user root execute the script mentioned above :
root@pase-db-01:~# sh /tmp/bp.6910/client_config
x ., 0 bytes, 0 tape blocks
x ./bp_servers, 18 bytes, 1 tape blocks
x ./bp_client_name, 29 bytes, 1 tape blocks
