Netbackup policies in 7.3 reuse for 8.1

Is this netbackup catalog architecture in below also apply to NetBackup 8.1? We'd like to move [INSTALL_PATH\Netbackup\db\class] policy flat files to another new master server(new OS). New master server is on another vCenter server and we want to reuse some of the current netbackup policies with updating only storage unit and target virtual machine values.Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

@yasu2019

I have been using this method (copy class folder) for many years, but it seems that this is no longer working in newer NBU versions.

Your best bet is to start from scratch on the new master (using same hostname and NBU version) server with catalog recovery from old master as per my advice in your other post.

@yasu2019 , Why would you need 2 separate master servers in the same environment?

You can create policies via cmd, but you need to understand commands and switches very well.
I have never had the courage to even try....

Here's a TN:

Thank you for your quick reply, Marianne! Unfortunately, we can't use the same hostname for new master server because the new master server is on the same Active Directory domain as the current master server. So we have to recreate backup policies manually using GUI? Is there any method(like using command line or something) for bulk backup policy creation?

We are planning migration to a new HCI vmware vSphere environment and we need NetBackup server both in old and new vSphere environment.

Anyway, Thank you for your advice, Marianne! That was really helpful!
