Netbackup restore of SAP via jnbSA ???

Hi Experts,

Could you help me with some strange question, please?

Last week i moved an old 5.1 NBU-system to another hardware (I know: EOL,
but this is only for restoring old data). Old and new systems are both Solaris.

This original system did backup some SAP-Systems using SAP-Module and backint.

The customer wanted to test this moved system and tried to restore some
of his SAP-Data with jnbSA/restore-Gui. I was a little bit surprised
of using jnbSA because i thought for restore purposes i need backint too.

Now he opened the restore part of the GUI and wanted to select the policy
type "SAP" - but there was no "SAP" selectable. The customer states that
in his old system this was possible and is now complaining about this.

Unfortunately we are not able to check this old system, only a another old
test system. In this test system the selection of "SAP" is not possible -
but the customer is shure that this was working in his old production NBU.

In the new system i have a valid active SAP-Module license and the SAP-Module
itself is installed...

Now i have two questions:

- Is this possible to restore SAP-Data with this GUI at all?
- Do you have an idea how i can get this to work?

thanks a lot

The NetBackup for SAP on a MaxDB database does not include the SAP backup and restore tools. You can initiate backup and restore operations through the MaxDB administrative interface when you invoke one of the following interfaces:

DBM GUI

 DBM CLI

Web DBM

I have been using SAP with Oracle since Netbackup 3.2 and I have never restored SAP via the Java  GUI. Restore/cloning  has always been carried out with brtools.

However, of you take a look in the admin guide it's say you can do backup and restore thru xbp (the text gui). Look on page 74 for restore.
