Netbackup support with Openstack Swift

Sitakanta
Level 2

Hi All,

I was going through some of the docs regarding the integration of Netbackup support with different cloud storage provders.

I have found that currently Netbackup supports four cloud storage providess: Amazon, AT&T, Nirvanix and rackspace.

At present my current datacenter uses Netbackup for taking backups. I'm planning to deploy Openstack Swift as a backup targets for my datacenter.

I would like to know the integration status of Netbackup with Openstack swift and can i use Netbackup to backed up my data and store it in Openstack Swift cluster.

Do Netbackup has a plugin for Openstack Swift which i can use to integrate Netbackup with Openstack Swift and will use openstack Swift as my backup destination.

Please help.

Thanks &b Regards,

Sitakanta

NO, if you are referring to the cloude storage on Openstack Swift cluster., its not yet supported..

refer the page 21 at below compatablity guide

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH76495

as you said it only supports Amazon, AT&T, Quantum and rackspace.

Probably symatec sales team may give you some info about the future support versions.

It is up to the Cloud provider to work with Symantec for compatibility testing and development of a plugin.

You will see the following in the HCL:

Qualified hardware listed in this document is tested through the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP). If you would like to have hardware considered for inclusion on this HCL, please contact your hardware partner to ensure they are a member of STEP and have submitted a request to have their product qualified with NetBackup. Information on STEP is available at  http://www.symantec.com/partners/programs/technology-partners/step.jsp
