Netbackup unable to backup VMs after VMware 6.5 to VMware 7.0.3 Upgrade

Hi All,

I have Netbackup 8.1 Master Server and Windows Media Server. I have for the past number of years been able to successfully backup VMs one of the VMware 6.5 deployments.

One of our VMware deployments (vCenter) has been upgraded from VMware 6.5 to VMware 7.03. Since the upgrade, backup of the VM's on the newly upgrade vCenter 7.0.3 is failing. Error seen is "Unable to Login to server: myvCenterServer "

In Netbackup GUI, In "Media and Device Management" > Credentials > Virtual Machine Servers, I removed the vCenter Server in question and then attempted to add it again and this fails too. I can confirm that I can login to vCenter GUI with the credentials entered below.

Netbackup - Unable to add vCenter.jpg

It seems that Netbackup master server is no longer able to communicate with vCenter since the upgrade to VMware 7.0.3.

Is Netbackup 8.1 compatible with VMware 7.x

If so, any thoughts on how to resolve this issue.?

Thanks Declan

Hi,

NBU 8.1 does not support vSphere 7.x. You will need to upgrade master (and media servers/backup hosts) at least to 8.2.

See the "Software Compatibility List" here: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100040093

Thanks @bhdrkzltn .

Will now look at upgrading our Netbackup Environment to 8.2 / 8.3.

Regards, Declan.
