Netbackup upgrade on Solaris 7

 Hi All

Is there a way to upgrade a Solaris 7 client 5.0MP2 to 6.x release ,
so we can upgrade Netbackup Media and Master servers to 7.0
without losing the backward compatibility  to the Solaris 7 host client ?

Thanks a lot

Regards

the answer has to be no.

Solaris 7 support finished at 5.1MPx
Solaris 8 is the oldest OS supported for 6.x

unless someone has a clever workaround! ;)

***EDIT***

Veritas NetBackup (tm) 5.x Operating System Compatibility (updated July 16 2007) ...

NetBackup (tm) 6.x Operating System Compatibility List (Updated January 29 2010) ...
& just for completeness:
NetBackup (tm) 7 Operating System Compatibility List (Updated January 29 2010) ...

 Hi Andy

Yes, i read those documents.... so if we upgrade NetBackup Master and Media servers
we have to renounce to backup policies of Solaris 7 clients or lower .

I agree with you, only a clever workaround can help .

Thanks

Maybe it's time to upgrade them!

We've also still got a 7 hanging around (5.1MP6 with 6.5.4 Master) & if I'm honest with you, we've still got a 6 too (not covered by NB tho')!

 Yes Andy

It's time to dismiss those platforms, of course,
but as you know, if sysadmin could take decisions ... the world should be a little bit better :)

I'll will push the issue to responsible manager and let's see what happens ...

Surely sysadmin knows that even SUN has dropped support for his O/S? That is the only reason why Symantec drops support for an O/S.

 Hi Marianne

You're right , we was only hopeful ,
sometimes for backward compatibility reasons, a kind of spot supporto is provided,
but no way here
