There are so many other options to consider.

What about NetBackup Appliance?
Or Quantum DXi?

What about another tape library?
LOTS to choose from - see the HCL: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76495

How about troubleshooting hardware issues and getting it fixed?
It may not even be the actual hardware but issue with cables, switch or hba.

Dedupe appliances are good, but let your storage vendor do a proper sizing exercise based on data types and retention levels (we cannot do it in this forum).

I still believe that disk (any kind of dedupe or non-dedupe) should be used for short-term retentions (2 weeks to a month) and tape for long-term storage.
But this is personal preference.

If you are dealing with a Symantec reseller that is also a hardware vendor, they will be able to give best advice.

You may even ask different vendors for POC...
