New NDMP configuration (Celerra)

Hi All,

We have the following configuration on our master server:

VERSION NetBackup 6.5.4

Linux 2.6.18-274.el5

No media servers.

Disk based backups used.

We have a celerra box which we want to back up using NDMP option.

Here are the queries:

1. As far as I understand, NetBackup for NDMP needs to be installed on master server. Correct me if I am wrong. Where can I get NetBackup for NDMP agent software to download. Any links please?

2. On NDMP Host i.e. the Celerra box, is any kind of NDMP configuration required?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Dan

we need to isolate the issue & hence,

1st we need make sure (100% sure) communication is working fine.

pls run below command from master server & post o/p.

tpautoconf -verify <ndmp_hostname> ---or--- tpautoconf -probe <ndmp_hostname>

Hi Yogesh,

Apologies for delayed response.

Here is the output for reference:

Connecting to host "server_2" as user "ndmp"...
Waiting for connect notification message...
Opening session--attempting with NDMP protocol version 4...
Opening session--successful with NDMP protocol version 4
  host supports TEXT authentication
  host supports MD5 authentication
Getting MD5 challenge from host...
Logging in using MD5 method...
Host info is:
  host name "server_2"
  os type "DartOS"
os version "EMC Celerra File Server.T.6.0.55.3"
  host id "abc1997"
Login was successful
Host supports LOCAL backup/restore
Host supports 3-way backup/restore

FYI. As per EMC its not space issue. Volume is showing as full or 100% as its a meta volume and other filesystems cannot use the allocated space. From NAS end no errors encountered.

Please suggest.
