Please do not rely on VMware backup for Oracle on VMware.
You need to install the NBU agent and run normal Oracle Policy backups.
You have proof in this environment that VMware method is not working.
Your Oracle db's are at risk while you refuse to accept good advice.
Who are you going to blame if there is a major db corruption and you cannot restore?

are you just not able to see .bdf files and can see rest of the files in the same Drive?
does these file system is created using the supported file system types for vmware backups?
if it is created using the VXVM, you can not see the files to restore..since it is not supported file system type. however you can restore entire vm with different name and recover the files..
please see the compatablity for Virtaul enviornment and make sure they are configured accordingly

.dbf files sounds like Oracle or some other database, right?
If you have online databases on Linux vm's, you should NOT rely on file-level restore from VMware backup.
Rather install NBU client software in the VM and take db agent backup.

If you are want to achive granular recovery from VMware backup, ensure you are selecting Restore Type as "Normal Backups"
See attachment for reference.

Dear All ,
i have others clients also backing up with same policy type(VMware) and able to see .dbf files in BAR gui.
If am i correct there is no concern for filesystem of VMware backup policy.
Whatever is the status of Databse it should be offline or online backup should be happne for those files for VMware policy because we have quiesce option in policy for the same.
Regards,
Bharat
