Hi
Sorry for my bad English.
We use NetBackup 7.5.0.4 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
We want to be notified by email each time a backup error occurs.
We followed the documentation. Notification in case of error works very well for our backup jobs VMware, Windows Server, Linux Server, and Lotus
Blat is OK, nbmail.cmd is OK
But
Notifications do not work for our backup jobs SQL and ORACLE : " Error bpbrm(pid=4404) cannot send mail to.... "
If we configure the client properties (Oracle or SQL) / universal Setting / Client Sends mail: mails we receive even if the backup is successful.
We backup SQL log every 30 min. We do not want to receive mail every 30 minutes! We just want to receive a mail if a backup fails.
Can you help us ?
Thank

Thank you for your Help
We have a licence for OpsCenter Analytics.
We use only OpsCenter for report.
I did not know you could generate real-time alerts for job backup.
Now, I use "Alert policies".
I use this alert :
"Job finalized : An alert is generated when a job of a....."
and I use this fonction:
"If specified, alert is generated for jobs whose exit status doesn't match the exit status specified below."
On "Exit Status to Exclude:", I write "0"
And now it's OK!!
Thank you!

What documentation did you follow and What specifically is alerting you?

Hi,
Thank you for your help.
I use this topic:
- For blat
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO34260#v40147390
- For nbmail
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO34256#v40147262
- and this topic
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH64984
As explain in the last topic, I want to receive one email for every failed backup.
For my SQL and ORACLE backup, I don' receive any email when i have failed backup (but it works for my all my other policy).
For my SQL and ORACLE, if i have failed backup, I can see on activity monitor " Error bpbrm(pid=4404) cannot send mail to.... "

I recommend using Netbackup OpsCenter (Free) for this kind of tasks. Just don't install it on the same server as your Master server, if you can.

I would agree with RLeon. OpsCenter or if available OpsCenter Analytics, provide excellent reporting and alerting for NetBackup policies.
Here is some good documnetation on OpsCenter, and the differences between the free version and Analytics.
