ORACLE DATABASE ERROR

CesarJimGon
Level 4

Hi.

During an Oracle Database Backup, the parent job ended with an error code 6.

One of the child jobs had the following message:

Warning bptm (pid=29124) TapeAlert Code: 0x12, Type: Warning, Flag: DIRECTORY CORRUPTED ON LOAD, from drive IBM.ULT3580-TD4.002 (index 2), Media Id N40019

What should be the steps to solve this problem if the error message displays again?

Regards.

The tape is logical damaged, a tape got a index (file allocation tabel) directory just like a disk. The index directory is damaged - did you have a power cut ?.  Suspend the tape (do not freeze it), once all data on it is expired Netbackup will re-use it again. If tape is empty run a label operation.

Alternative - remove tape from robot, if a tape is in the scratch status it may be re-picked for backup all the time causing havoc.
