Any idea why Oracle Linux 7 support was dropped for NBU 7.7.2 Master servers?

No idea why, but it was announced a couple of months ago: https://sort.veritas.com/nbufutureplans Extract from above doc: " If an item listed below will cause significant business impacts, contact your Veritas Sales Account Team "

I guess on the lack of deployment, if only a small group is using Oracle Linux, it is a straight forward move to dump support and instead focus on the know Linux flavors.

Alternative Oracle asked to much USD for a back to back agreement.

Thanks guys.

We use Oracle Linux.  We had RedHat, but Oracle was cheaper for support and came with the same kernel.

I guess I'll have to test switching my install to CentOS.

Not good also for me we have a lot  of OEL Installation by us.

So is it not possible to say is supported but only for RedHat Compatible Kernel ?

Thanks

for Responce .

You will see in NBU 7.7 OS SCL that CentOS is only supported as Media server, not Master.

As long as Oracle keep their Oracle Linux binary compatible with Red Hat, it may work but it unsupported. If have any problems you have to prove problem also occur on Red Hat.
