For the last few days, the Online and Archive backups for a specific client are hanging at "Backup" and not getting to the other "steps". This is what we're seeing:
connected; connect time: 0:00:00
Info bphdb (pid=) Backup started
Info bphdb (pid=) Processing /opt/appl/backup/bin/rman/_arch_disk.sh
Info bphdb (pid=) Waiting for the child status
The client is a linux client. The Oracle backups last worked on Friday. The standard backup for the same client has been successful.

Please check the status of the Database with DBA and also check the /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bphdb logs which may you give you more information. Please share the information that you see in the logs.

In addition to bphdb log folder, please check these logs as well:
The rman output file, dbclient log and logs in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops (I think it's something like /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/dbext/logs )
If bphdb and dbclient log folders do not exist, please create them and chmod 777.
The user_ops folder (and sub-dirs) should already exist with 777 permissions.

The archive (rman) may hang in connecting to the recover catalog.

Will the name of the policy or schedule have changed?

Could you please give more details?
We already knew that the problem was on the rman (child) side...
