Sanjay,
What version of Netbackup?
Are you using the RMAN scripts found in the samples folder?

When backing up Oracle using Netbackup scripts an error 6 is usually produced by a syntax error within the script being called during backup.
Also make sure the Netbackup Client Service is using an account that has SYSDBA priviledges.

1. What is the version of netbackup you are using? There was an issue in 5.0 upto MP3

http://support.veritas.com/docs/270094

The VERITAS NetBackup (tm) for Oracle agent and RMAN both show failures when explicitly deleting backup images from the NetBackup image catalog and the Oracle RMAN catalog. Failure messages include "Failed with The sequence of calls is incorrect." & "ORA-27027: sbtremove2 returned error" respectively.

2. Ask your DBA to check the script
