Hello,

I am trying to backup Oracle with Oracle Policy.

Has this ever worked?

Has anything changed?

From Oracle:

RMAN-06412 no proxy copy channel found

Cause: A proxy copy was started, but no allocated channel supports proxy copy. This could be because the media management software used by the target database does not support proxy copy, or because all of the allocated channels are of type DISK, which never support proxy copy.

Action: If this is a backup, then either allocate a non-disk channel, or do not use the PROXY option. If this is a restore, then a channel of the same type which created the proxy backup was allocated, but now does not support proxy copy. If proxy copy is no longer supported by the media management software at the target database, the CROSSCHECK or CHANGE commands should be used so that those backups will not be considered for further restores

It used to work with the previous backup software (CA BrightStor).

Actually, I am using NBU7.6.0.2 (Both server and client use the same version). Unfortunately, it never worked with NBU ...

You would need to edit the script if you are pointing at the same one as the original would be referencing the CA installation

Having said that on 7.6.0.2 it should have discovered your oracle installation and have it all ready and waiting for you to create the policy you need in the NetBackup Admin Console under NetBackup Management - Applications - Oracle

Mark is right.

Use Netbackup Oracle Intelligent Policies - it took me less than 10 minutes to run the first Oracle backup. No need to hassle around with command line any more.

Proxy copy in backup script?

Does this mean you are trying to do snapshot backups?

If so, you need to go through the NetBackup Snapshot Client Administrator's Guide   as well as the Snapshot Client chapter in NetBackup for Oracle Administrator's Guide  ?

Something else - you need to verify that the NBU dll is now used for backups and not BrightStor.
After removal of BrightStor software, did you reboot the Windows Oracle server to unload that software's dll?
Or rebooted the server and/or restart Oracle after NBU installation to ensure the correct dll is loaded?

Did you check that NBU services are started as Oracle user with local admin priveleges?
