Password protect backups

Hi:

Is there a way to password protect specific backups, can it be done for backups already created?

You can encrypt backups, but if two users with same privileges have access to same media server that created the backups, either of them can restore any file backed up started by the other user?

Thanks for your help, best regards.

I don't think password protecting is what you are looking for. What you need is role-based access control to segegrate duties.

Pls take a look at the NBAC role-based access control

There is also a youtube video on configuration:

To my knowledge there is no such thing as password protection in in Netbackup for backups.

@peter12

Think about it this way:

"... if two users with same privileges have access to same media server", it means that they are both trusted Backup Admins, right?

You should not have backups started manually by individual users. The norm is to schedule backups to start automatically as configured in Policy schedules.

Manual backups started on a client is usually done by a dba or by a server administrator. These are trusted roles decided by domain admins and controlled by company policies. If any user cannot be trusted with backups of a particular server, they should not have server admin roles or backup admin roles.
