Protecting win 2012 server with 7.6beta2 client on a 7.5.0.5 master ?

Hi

Has anyone here tried to use the 7.6beta2 client on a windows 2012 server and then have it backed up from a 7.5.0.5 Masterserver ?
What can one expect to not function as planed, not counting support of course. Any issues with restores etc.

Please log a Support call with Symantec.
One of our customers did - they were given 7.1 client software for W2012.

Your other option will be to escalate your issue to Symantec Product Management via your local Symantec office.

I haven't tried it, but it wouldn't be a supported confuration having the master server at a higher major rev. level than the client. Double-dot and triple-dot release are interchangable, but not major releases. I've always gone with if you need to get the binaries from FileConnect, you'd better have done your master first, then the media servers before clients.

We are under a lot of pressure to solve backup of win2012 clients. Our masterserver is 7.5.0.5 and there is no client to install on a windows 2012 server. We have an idea to install the 7.6beta2 CLIENT software on a win2012 server to back it up to our 7.5.0.5 master. Ofcourse you can't choose win2012 as client OS in the policy but what have we got to loose ? Management are not impressed at the moment, regarding the lack of 2012 support in Current Netbackup GA release, and we get to hear about it everyday.
