Push install while upgrading solaris clients from 7.5.0.6 to 7.6.0.3

Hi Experts,

I am planning an NBU upgrade from 7.5.0.6 to 7.6.0.3 on Solaris 10 master server. All the Unix clients are solaris 10 based machines (around 70 clients).

I need to know the different ways to do the client upgrade from the master server to all clients at once.

Will update_clients -ClientList /clients1.txt help by passing the vi file?

/usr/openv/netbackup/client/Solaris/Solaris10

2) make sure the client names in /clients1.txt file should be in below formate

Also please check out the different push methods from the 7.6 Installation Guide. (DOC6447)

You can push the client software from a UNIX/Linux master server to a client host
by using the following methods:

rsh
About NetBackup client installation on UNIX/LinuxSee “Installing client software with the rsh method” on page 106.

ftp
See “Installing client software with the ftp method” on page 107.

ssh
See “Installing client software with the ssh method” on page 108.

sftp
See “Installing client software with the sftp method” on page 109.

Hi Ram,

Thank you for the reply.

I have the below in mentioned dir.

bash-3.2# cd /usr/openv/netbackup/client/Solaris/Solaris10
bash-3.2# ls
client_bin.tar.gz  extract_java       installpbx         NB-Java.tar.gz     pddeagent.tar.gz   ssh_to_client
client_config      ftp_to_client      JRE.tar.gz         nbj.conf           pdinstall          tar
cp_to_client       install_client     move_libs          PBX.tar.gz         sftp_to_client     version
bash-3.2#

So once i upgrade the Master i will also install the client package on the Master server.

As you said i have used earlier the same format as below.

Solaris Solaris10 client4

replace client1,client2.. with your real client names..

Hi Symterry,

Thanks for the reply.

For rsh install i believe we need to have the client name entry and a + in .rhosts file.

However when doing the push install from the GUI > all policies > am unable to do multiple clients at once or i may be doing it wrong?

hi RXZrider,

Okay.. so when you used the same formate earier, did you find any issues...?

i would say update_clients is the better choice, when it comes to the version upgrades...

you need to make sure your clients have enogh space in /tmp and also in /usr/openv tooo..

Hi Ram,

I had not  faced any issues while upgrading earlier. But i had done just the patch upgrade from 7.5 to 7.5.0.6. Hence i just wanted to confirm if we can do it from 7.5.0.6  to 7.6.0.3.

Yes i will make sure there is enough space in said locations.
