Hello! I am unable to find the drivers for my Scalar 50 robot with HP ultrium drives in it. Am I being terribly thick? I am using NBU 7 on Windows server 2008R2 x64 Enterprise edition. I understand I need to get symantec drivers rather than the Quantum ones? Where do they live? Help me! Matt

For 64 bit Windows media servers, you need to use the manufacturer's tape drive drivers.  For Quantum tape libraries, there are no tape library drivers for Windows 2008.  If the Quantum library is uses HP LTO tape drives, then you should use the latest LTO tape drive drivers from HP's website.

The tape library will be unknown in Windows Device manager, but will work with NetBackup 7.0 on 64-bit.

the latest driver release was from 24th July 2009 & upto 6.5.1.

There is also another T/N, which was last updated even earlier than the above, that states that there are no Symantec 64-bit drivers & that the manufacturers most recent versions should be used.

I cannot find anything more recent, unless someone knows differently?

I will include the T/N's for reference:

True, Symantec do not supply drivers for x64 (64bit) Windows O/S variants.

Your best bet is to go to the Quantum site.

The Scalar 50 page is here:
http://www.quantum.com/ServiceandSupport/SoftwareandDocumentationDownloads/S50/Index.aspx

...and the "Drivers" tab on this page says:

Windows Driver for Scalar 50/PX500 1.4.0

This driver is for use only with Windows RSM and Microsoft Protection Manager
To use this driver on Scalar 50 you need to use PX500 emulation mode
If in doubt regarding the use of this driver please contact Technical Support

...so not sure if this is what you want.
You'll have to research.

The HCL for NetBackup 7 can be found here:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/336875.htm

...and page 115 shows SCalar 50 as supported for use with NetBackup with no conditions on O/S.

I agree - the only drivers you need is the 64-bit drivers for the HP LTO's.
For the library, this TechNote is still valid:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/276893.htm:

2.  Ensure that the Medium Changer driver is properly loaded for the robot.
Ensure the Medium Changer driver has loaded successfully for the robot in the Windows Device Manager. The Medium Changer driver that Windows loads automatically for the robot is usually the best driver to use. Additional drivers, if available from the robot's vendor, are often not necessary or are meant for usage outside of NetBackup. It is generally okay for a robot to detect as the default "Unknown Medium Changer" in the Windows Device Manager.

Thanks very much ladies and gents. The HP ultrium 64-bit drivers were what I needed.
