Hi all.
we are planning to upgrade our servers (one master , two media with MSDP) , from 7.0.1 to 7.1 .
We use the deduplication option at client side so we need to know if there is any issue concerning the use of 7.0 clients with 7.1 netbackup servers , especially when deduplication is in use.
An other question if there is any known issue when upgrading the media server from 7.0.1 to 7.1.
I have read many articles/guides and i think i know what i have to do , but i couldn't find any specific for media servers (when there is deduplication pool) and i have to minimize the chances of having issues with the dedub pool.
Here is the steps i think i have to follow during the upgrade of the nbu servers
· Backup master database.
· Check database integrity
· Disable all policies
· Disable all Storage lifecycle policies
· Disable all media servers
· Start upgrading each server locally
· Enable Storage lifecycle policies
· Enable a policy
· Enable media servers
· Check all components (drivers-disk pools) are reporting ok with master server
· Check upgrade success and fire an test backup. Check backup integrity by restoring a file.
· If ok enable all policies
· Apply patch 7.1.0.1 and fire a backup (or backup the universe J).
· Observe log entries for errors
