RAW Restore on different server doesn't work?!?

Fred2010

Hi All,

I have made a RAW backup of a Drive on SERVER A using:

Windown NT Policy type, backup selection \\.\z: (Which works fine)

Now I need to urgently restore this RAW backup to a different server (SERVER B).

For this I start the BACKUP, ARCHIVE AND RESTORE tool on the master server and specify:

Source client: SERVER A
Destination client: SERVER B
Policy Type: MS-Windows NT

I select the date and volume I need and start the RESTORE (Using RESTORE TO ORIGINAL LOCATION and checking the OVERWRITE checkbox).

The restore seems to run fine:

12:48:34 16/12/2007: Restore Started

23:00:53 (228471.xxx) INF - Status = the requested operation was successfully completed

Unfortunately, after the restore is finished and the destination server is booted the volume appears as unformated (It was formatted & empty before the restore).

My questions:

1) Is it possible to do a RAW restore of a volume to a different server than it was backed up from?
2) Should I specify something different than: RESTORE TO ORIGINAL LOCATION???
2a) If so: What should I specify? The documentation says something about a LEADING FORWARD SLASH but the examples don't show it anywhere...
2b) Does anyone know what the LEADING SLASH (Mentioned in the documentation) means and where I should place it on restores?

My setup:

All servers are Windows 2003 Servers and I'm using NBU 6.0 with MP5. The volumes on both servers are exactly equal in the number of blocks (Using a SAN).

Any help is appreciated!

Fred
