you have to create an exclude_list file on the client in /usr/openv/netbackup. There are T/N's available & I will source some for you shortly!

***EDIT***

Subject is touched on in the Admin Guides (noted in the following URLs), but also:

DOCUMENTATION: Additional examples for setting up exclude_list files on NetBackup clients

DOCUMENTATION: Additional tips on using exclude_list and include_list for managing files to be excluded and included in a backup

Additionally:

You need to open the client properties of a perticular client from admin console and then browse perticluar directory or path which needs to exclude.

touching on with what Andy pointed out...

Unix clients - need to use the exclude_list file - add the dir/files/ext manually

Windows clients - you can use the Remote console, selecting the client and then browse the client dir/files to exclude.

Are you using Java or Windows remote console
