Hi all,
please I need help, from some days we have RMAN backup failures, I find some solution without success.
For troubleshooting I create these folder logs (I follow this article https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.HOWTO89647.html):
Client: bpdbsbora, bporaexp (or boraexp64), bporaimp (or boraimp64), bpubsora, dbclient, bphdb, bpfis, and bpcd.
Master: bpbrm and bptm, bprd
In client logs I don' t finded nothing of interesting, but in Master bprd, I found this significant (I think) text:
02:08:31.504 [4904] <8> append_to_client_log: couldn't open log file SysTest_SDBSTS51_TXMETA_Archive on client sdbsts51-bk491, error = 13
02:08:31.505 [4904] <8> bkarfiles: failure writing progress log on client sdbsts51-bk491 in log SysTest_SDBSTS51_TXMETA_Archive: file open failed (12)
02:08:31.672 [4904] <16> bkarfiles: Unable to write progress log <SysTest_SDBSTS51_TXMETA_Archive> on client sdbsts51-bk491. Policy=NONE Sched=6
02:08:31.682 [4904] <2> bkarfiles: User backup failed (client = sdbsts51-bk491 user = ora1023 group = sdbsts51-bk491): file open failed
I follow this post:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sql-backup-bes
here the issue is referred to an SQL db, but the problem to "failure writing progress log" it is the same. Unfortunately I don' t find any issue related to a DNS

Please attach all the logs as you mentioned in the post.
Client: bpdbsbora, bporaexp (or boraexp64), bporaimp (or boraimp64), bpubsora, dbclient, bphdb, bpfis, and bpcd.
Master: bpbrm and bptm, bprd
Make sure they are verbosity 5.
I would also need the RMAN script. The admin logs from client would also be useful
β08-17-2015 12:38 AM
Looking at the Job Details your script is failing with a status 1, get your DBA to check the rman output log and the database alert.log.
BTW. Please attach logs as txt so that they can be read in a browser.

Hi all,
I attach all the logs present on Master and Client. Have you idea because the "bprd" now it is not written ?
There are some problems with attachments upload, I must zip all the logs in one file sorry!
tks guys

we have solved !
the support OS added some parameter to the Access Control (software that manage users access) for the local users and the backup now work fine.
