RMAN retention queries if SLPs are used

Using NB 7.7.2

We have SLPs that has backup operation to disk for 2 weeks and duplication to tapes for 1 month.

a) If the RMAN retention is set to 2 weeks and when we run delete obsolete will it remove NB catalog entries for tape entries as well ?I'm under the impression that only disk backup will be removed and catalog marks Primary copy from disk to tape until tape reaches its retention period.

b)If we have a backup on tapes with INFINITY retention and RMAN catalog entries are removed what is the fastest way to restore RMAN catalog entries ?

I am not a DBA but I think you are doing it wrong. Instead of using a fixed RMAN retension you should perform a rman crossindex. This command will synchronize what RMAN has with the Netbackup catalog.

1: RMAN can't delete Netbackup backups. But remember RMAN can make backup to local disk where it will delete the backups.

2: To my understanding Netbackup backup without rman entries are worthless backups. You need to ask a DBA.
