Readout VMX Information from Backup Image

Hello,

I've found the following Article from Symantec: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH124503.html

There you can see, that the VM attributes are gathered and stored in the backup image

The virtual machine attributes are still gathered by NetBackup and stored with the backup image, but not as a vmx file.   For automated restores VMware Converter is no longer used, so the vmx file is not required.  Backups captured using the vStorage API will be restored using the vStorage API.

Now I want to know, is there any possibility to read out the VMX Information from the Backup Image?

Thank you very much in advance!

Daniel

Can you explain why you want to restore the VMX files ?

The need to use of VMX files was removed in VMware ESX 3.5/  Virtual Center Server 2.5 acording to the tech note. NBU 7.0/ ESX 3.5 and newer do not use the VMX files anymore.
