Just wondering whether you can reboot the Master while the Media server is still doing running backup ? The tape library is connected to the media server.
The netbackup shutdown script should place any active backups in a suspend mode before shutting down. This is necessary because the master server contains the catalog data for the images that the media server is writing to tape. That means there needs to be communication between the media and master servers so active jobs are suspended until netbackup is back online on the master server.
u can suspend the jobs in media server
bring all NBU services on master server bpdown -v -f then reboot it
once it is up bring NBU services up bpup -v -f
then unsuspend th jobs in media server
