Recommended configurations for Restore speeds

We are in a situation where we will be restoring our entire infrastructure multiple times over the coming months.  What Netbackup configuration changes can be done either on storage unit, policy or wherever that will provide the best performance possible for restores?

FYI,

I have configured netbackup7.5 rman and found an issue when did restore testing.

Allocating 2 channels for rman took 90 minutes restore for 10G.

After changing 1 channel, it took 5 minutes restore.

You might change netbackup configuration parameter for this issue which you can find tech docu on this website.

Another tip, 4 multiplexing is recommanded for backup and restore.

Advice in your other posts still remain.

You really need to test various STU settings. Perform backup and restore tests after each change.

As per Joseph's advice, real life experience has found good backup and restore performance with MPX  of 4. Some of our customers are also seeing good performance with MPX of 8.

You also need to test restores with STU fragment size. We normally recommend a value of 5000, but have also seen good restore performance with value of 10000.

Network backups and restore will also require tuning on media servers and clients. Here it depends on OS on each of these machines.
