Recorded Media ID blank - External Media ID OK

Hi all,

I somtimes notice that via the device manager, a tape is mounted and the recorded media ID is blank. The External media ID is OK and the tape reads / writes just fine.

Could this cause issues down the road?  The tapes are fresh out of the box.  Also, running command: vmoprcmd shows these same volumes with label status of NO.

Hello,  

Since the tape is blank there is no media ID. The media ID label is generated when something is written to the tape.
