Recycling of expired tapes automatically

Hi

Can veritas netbackup software automatically recycle the expired tape so that it can be re-used for taking backup? or do we need to manually configure it.

I don't think it is easy unless you use vault.

We use a large number of perl scripts which are available off the internet but to use them you do need to know a bit about scripting.

NetBackup will expire the tape and make it available for re-use when ALL images on the tape reach the defined retention period. The tape will automatically be moved to its original pool which is normally "scratch".

Hi guys,
When all the images on a media expires then the media would be expired and automatically moved to SCRATCH POOL, but what happens when there are no SCRATCH POOL configured, will the tapes be moved to the parent POOL and available for backup?
