Its a remote Media Server manged backup .

Out out of tpautocoonf command is :

root@XXXXX# tpautoconf -probe XXXXXXX

Same will be the no ouput from the sysconfig -m  / sysconfig -t

If the tape devices are not listed review your configuration and/or perform another bounce of the selected Netapp FC port.

Rohit,  'tpautoconf -probe XXXXXXX' is supposed to come back with devices found on XXXXXX. See the NetApp chapter in http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH31885 .

Please share the steps that you have followed to config NDMP backups?

Did you authorize NetBackup access to the NDMP host from master server under Media
and Device Management > Credentials -> NDMP Hosts  for media server(s) acting as NDMP host?

If you are using remote media server backup (NDMP with no tape devices) - did you follow the steps listed in 'Configuring NDMP backup to NetBackup media servers (remote NDMP)' section of NBU for NDMP Admin Guide    http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3671 ?

Have you gone through the below form?  He has the same issue just like you and he had a networking teaming issue...just check with your environment

Since is is not mentioned that whether NDMP backup is LOCAL, REMOTE or 3-WAY I am assuming that it is LOCAL NDMP backup.

Few things to verify while taking LOCAL NDMP backup of NetApp with NetBackup

- Make sure that tape drive and robot are visible to NetApp storage.

SYSCONFIG -T

SYSCONFIG -M

- For this you need to zone your TL drive with NetApp. Also make sure that NetApp FC port which is being zoned with TL drive is Initiator port. If this is onboard FC port then you can change the FC port mode using below command

FCADMIN CONFIG

- You need to one user on NetApp for NDMP backup. Add this user into NDMP/backup group on NetApp storage.

useradmin user add ndmp_user_name -g group_name

- After this generate NDMP password for the mentioned created user

ndmpd password ndmp_user_name

- Make the note of the generated password. These are system generated passwords and often are very creepy. Add this username and password in NDMP credentials in NetBackup master server

- Create the new storage unit for NDMP local devices from NetBackup master server

- Create new policy and add the backup selection for device which needs to be backed up.

- Run the backup.

With these steps, backup should run without errors.

Check whether you have followed all the steps.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

Currently we are working with the Firewall team as from the error logs it seems to us that Port is not open ,we are not able to telnet the NAS filer from Our media server

 [root@XXXXXXXX sbin]# telnet YYYYYY 10000
Trying 10.XX.XX.XX...
telnet: connect to address 10.XX.XX.XX: No route to host
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: No route to host

Will update you the issue as soon I get any information from Firewall team.

Thanks,

Rohit

[root@XXXXXXbin]# ./tpautoconf -probe XXXXXX
[root@XXXXXX bin]#

Actually we are using Media server managed NDMP backup so I think out put of the command is not showing any result .  also the same step we used in our different environment and that backup is running fine .

So as if now I am waiting from Firewall team answer about our port query
