Regarding media expire issue

Rohit_Singh_Nay

Hi ,

I am unable to expire the media while trying to expire the media its giving me error that media couldn't be found in the database. But media can be found through the vmquery command and seeing from the netbackup console having assign date. But while trying to see that media through Bpmedialist command is giving me response that media can't be found.

Please suggest me how can I expire the media.
Netbackup version 6.0 and OS is windows server 2000

You can download the nbcc utility and run it.  It will check for any type of catalog inconsistentcies and report what it finds.  If it does happen to find anything, you can log a support case and a technician will help you resolve them.

I found this command suggested by Marianne Van De Berg in the other "Media expire" thread, so give her a thumbs up if it leads you to any conclusions:

nbemmcmd -listmedia -mediaid

List the output of that command.  It should tell you if NBU sees the tape in the EMM DB.

if a tape is unassigned (scratch) bpimagelist won't report any images. But vmquery (vm  = volume manager) will still know the tape.

Look for the fields : kilobytes, Images and valid Images. If they all are 0, the tape is unassigned.

lena:~ # nbemmcmd -listmedia -mediaid 600085
