Replication director - snapshot import failed (4213)

Hello

We use the Netbackup replication director for our netapps.

I have the following workflow:

snap of filer1 -> replicate to filer2 -> backup to tape

the snapshot and the replication works very well but the backup to tape gives me the error 4213 in one backup job.

All other snapshots and replications are working.

What can be the problem. Where can I find better error messages?

My environment:

NBU Master: virtual (Windows 2008R2)

NBU Mediaserver: Appliance 5230

Netapp 8060 7-Mode

DFM with NBUPlugin 1.1

"A Backup From Snapshot operation must use a Snapshot operation as
its source."

I believe you would have to use "backup from snapshot" in place of the replicate step. Then you can use the duplicate function to copy that image to tape.

For more infromation please see the

Symantec NetBackup Replication Director 7.6 Solutions Guide:

Yes I use Backup from Snapshot but I get the error 4213.

1. Snapshot

2. Replication to filer 2

3. Backup from Snapshot of filer2

I'm saying that your problem is step 2.

Step 2 must be Backup from Snapshot NOT "2. Replication to filer 2"

My SLP is working with other policies! I only have a problem with 1 where i get this error.

I don't want to do a backup from snapshot of filer1! The backup should be done from a snapshot of filer 2 after the replication has finished. This is my backup filer. I don' want to have additional backup traffic from filer1!

I can see in the Netapp DFM that there is a second dataset of Netbackup with the same source and destination relationship. There is no backup left in this dataset. Will Netbackup do a cleanup of this unused data sets?

Hi I have exactly the same problems some policys worked very well but a lot of policy going wrong with the error. I think the Konfiguration is correct so this Kind of backup is described in the replication directory documentation. Is think the issue still exist we are using 7.6.1.1. Have you found a workaround ? Thanks for answer. RG Marcel

Hello

I have also upgraded to version 7.6.1.1. The problem ist still the same.

I have opend a call at netapp for this issue. Symantec said that this could be an issue in the replication director which is programmed by netapp. I will post the result of the call if I get one.

Hello

I think the problem exist if you have a mixture of data in qtrees and in the root of the volume. If you enter the paths for the qtrees in you data selection it will work. In my case also the backup from snapshot was no problem. For the data in the root you can enter the path in this way /vol/thevolume/-

The only problem here is, that the backup will work but the restore will not work :)

Another interesting problem I have now is that I can restore the data of the qtrees (from the snapshot) but the restore job fails with error 2813. The files and folders are there and they are working but the restore job fails with the following error:

Any ideas?

Hello

if you use only qtrees or volumes without qtrees it works.
