Report to show Resource unit usage time per job?

Hi all,

Environment:

  • 1 x Windows 2012 R2 Master / Media Server 7.6.1
  • 1 x Windows 2012 R2 Media Server 7.6.1
  • Each server hosts an MSDP.
  • 1 x Windows 2012 R2 OpsCenter with analytics.
  • No Tapes involves.
  • 99% of backups are accelerated VMware using queries.

We are starting to see repeated 196 errors (client backup was not attempted because backup window closed) and looking at the Job Details we see that the reason is "awaiting resource NEXSAN_STORAGE_UNIT. Maximum job count has been reached for the storage unit."  This limit is currently set to 10 and looking at the performamnce figures of the storage there isn't an awful lot of headroom to allow for an increase this of this figure.

We were wondering if there is a report that we can run which will show us over the course of a typical backup window the length of time each individual job has a "lock" of the resource unit.  It's not as easy as looking at the "Elapsed time" colum within the Activity Monitor as this time includes any delays encountered.  What we need is to see the legnth of time the resource unit is in use per job.

Is that possible?

Thanks,

Graham

You can get the actual run time from OpsCenter. There is a table called nb_jobattempt with column activestarttime. That shows when the job went active, not when it was queued.
