Are you saying that the source and destination media servers are also source and destination clients?

And that you are trying to do a restore of a raw HP-UX volume to Linux?

This will simply not work.
Even if both of them run SF/HA for volume manager and Filesystem - the one is 'big endian'  and the other is 'liitle endian' (See http://www.symantec.com/security_response/glossary/define.jsp?letter=b&word=big-endian ) which needs special conversion to import between these OS's.

You will only be able to do file/folder level restore.

You're showing two different error codes here. First I will address the detail you pasted. The error 5 can be seen when the person who initiated the restore logs out. If you start the restore from the master server then you won't have that problem.

The log file cited exists on the media server. Ensure that none of the volumes on the media server is full. Also ensure there is enough disk space at the destination for the restore.

Now for the TAR error. That one is really bad. It can be seen when the header was written by something other than Netbackup. It could also be a corrupt entry due to hardware failure. Certain tape drives have been known to write bad headers without sending any feedback to Netbackup so it looks like a successful backup to us.

I agree - the details that you posted does not show 'invalid tar header' message.

Tell us more about Source CLIENT and Destination Client?
Or did you mean this perhaps?

Client (source) : Netbackup  6.5.6 / HP-UX ia64
Client (destination): Netbackup  7.5.0.6 / Oracle Linux Server release 6.4

Are you trying to perform full volume restore or individual file/folder restore?

If you restore to another platform (HP-UX to Linux client), you should only restore file/folder level.
You will not be able to perform full volume (raw) restore.

Try a small folder as a test.

Thanks very much (all), by attention about this error
Below are some considerations, (questioned)

1-) Tell us more about Source CLIENT and Destination Client?  Or did you mean this perhaps?

source (media-server) hp-ux ia64 (6.5.6) - Flashbackup
destination (media-server) Linux 6.4 (7.5.0.6)

2-) Are you trying to perform full volume restore or individual file/folder restore?
We are using (flashbackup - raw partion restore), then we will (try) convert filesystem

3-) Small folder as a test
Restore finished with successfully (restore type: Normal backup)
