Restore across NetBackup domains

Hello Forum,

We have 18 clients currently being backed up by Site A.  Recently Site B was put in place to backup these 18 clients.  Site A will remain in place to backup other clients.

Editing the bp.conf on these 18 clients replacing the Site A Master/Media server name with the Site B Master server name allows connectivity for Site B backups.

However, since Site A is a tape only environment, and Site B is a disk only environment, there is no means to import the existing backup images into the Site B environment.

Currently running NBU 7.6.0.3 on Linux for both sites. Site A has a Master and separate Media servers.  Site B has only a Master/Media server.

The question is:  After the 18 clients have been configured to be backed up by the Site B Master, is there a way to configure the 18 clients to still recognize and allow Site A to restore the existing legacy backup images to the 18 clients as needed ?

Thanks

I'm guessing that prior to every restore required from the legacy Site A, the client bp.conf would need to be edited and comment out the Site B server names and replace with the Site A Master and Media server names.

You can leave all the servers from both sites in the clients' bp.conf. As long as the current Site B master doing the backups is the 1st entry, and all the servers in the bp.conf are reachable, there should not be any issues. Once you're sure all the images those clients had in Site A have expired, you can remove those servers for security purposes.
