Restore an NDMP Backup on a Non-NDMP Architecture

Hello,

We need to restore some files (250-1000) of a backup, that was backed up on a Netapp with an NDMP policy, on a Solaris 10 server.

On this Solaris 10 server there is a Netbackup 6.5.1 installed but no Netapp or NDMP agent.

We have already done the import of the catalog and we can have the overview of the files on the tapes.

I tried to restore a simple file but it failled with this error log:

29 août 2008 09:55:44 - Error bpbrm (pid=15218) cannot retrieve NDMP credentials for host XXX, error = 254
29 août 2008 09:55:44 - Error bpbrm (pid=15218) client restore EXIT STATUS 114: unimplemented error code 114

Is there a procedure to restore in those conditions?

Thanks.

"The destination host must be an NDMP host compatible with the data format of the source (the source and destination must be of the same NAS vendor type)."

NDMP backups are raw data backups no files or folders, thats why you need a box with the NDMP protocol configured, because netbackup need to transfer the data in blocks not in files and this can only be managed by NDMP.
