If you are referring to NetBackup Client Encryption, then you can check out this old (should still be relevant) TN: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100031311

Problem:

FTL - tar had an unexpected error

This mean Netbackup had a error reading the tar image you are restoring. I don't think its related to a re-directed restore

UPDATE: This technote looks like to match the issue

NetBackup for Lotus Notes restores fail with status 184 - tar had an unexpected error

Kindly provide the below information about Master/Media/Client server.

Have you tried to perform image verify against that backup id?

Hi Folks,

I had a thought regarding this, after reviewing the issue and the technote that Nicolai posted.  The post clearly states that he is trying to restore the data to his Master or Media server (not a Lotus Notes server), and that it is from a Lotus Notes backup.

Pretty sure Lotos Notes would not be installed on either the Master or Media server, so is this a case of trying to do what would be the equivalent of doing a restore of Exchange to a system that does not have Exchange installed?

Particularly after reading Nicolai's link, I was wondering if it it is to do with the fact that notes.ini does not exist because it is not being restored to a Notes server.  This line in the link stood out "During the VERITAS NetBackup (tm) for Lotus Notes restore, the specified NotesIniPath was incorrect".  In this case the NotesIniPath doesn't even exist.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Seems @Hossary registered on Tuesday, posted here and has not been back since then to look for answers?

Thanks all..I have found that the issue related to the encryption, I have copied the keyfile from the client to the master server under var folder it worked fine but the Q here if the client crashed anytime how can I get the keyfile again ?
