I'm running into the same issue and some disks are offline within diskmgmt.exe on Windows Media server. Is there any risk of data corruption of changing them to online if they already have data / VM's stored written to the disk? Or is it best to create new LUNs and change to Online and then migrate to them? Thanks for your input.
This is in reference to Pg 170 Regarding the LUNs being online/offline - From the Guide - https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21902280-136588228-1

For windows media servers, make sure that AUTOMOUNT is disabled, otherwise as soon as you online the disks, windows will format it.
Your disks need to be online in order to use SAN transport method for VMware restores.
Get a new LUN mapped to your media servers specifically for restores, then you never have to worry about messing with existing VMs.

Hi Laurence,
Yes, thanks for the feedback. I had the same thought of just creating another LUN for Restores thereby not having to worry about changing what's already there.
Thanks so much.
