Restore of virtual server to different host w. Hyper-V

Jacob

Hi,

I'm currently testing Hyper-V backup.

Backup is running fine (after a VSS patch was applied to the Hyper-V host) and restore of a full virtual server is also possible to same hyper- v hosts (and single file restore). But I can't restore to a different Hyper-V host; I get exit code 37 every time.

Altnames is set correctly and hyper-v service is running etc.

Master and media server is running NetBackup 6.5.5 and the clients run 6.5.4

Anyone have an idea about what I'm doing wrong?

BR, Jacob

I got it to work by making a restore to staging location on the new host.

Jacob,

this technote is for SQL restore though it may provide some guidance:
STATUS CODE 37: SQL restore attempts fail with NetBackup Status Code 37 (operation requested by an invalid server).

try to do an alias to the host in /etc/hosts - master server

coment the line (if the first server are running)

put something like that
<ip of the server restoring>   <name of the production server>  <server the receive the restore>

192.168.20.20  server_a  server_b

Are you saying that the 'staging location' resolved status 37?

Restore to the staging location is one of three uniq options you get then you restore a hyper-v server. Our hyper-v admins would prefer if I could restore the server as an active host on a new server, but that didn't seem possible.
