Restore permissions CIFS

how do we ensure that the files/shares permission on a CIFS server is backed up.

i.e. when we restore from backup, will the files and shares permissions be preserved?

Hello

When you are doing restores of folders being shared such information will pop-up in restore log:

"To enable the shares, the ‘Server’ services needs to be restarted."

This is somekind of proof that share and permissions are being preserved... If this was not the case then this whole backup does not make any sense....

You should always test your backups. Change permissions on a file or folder, restore it and ensure the permissions are correct.
