Resume backup from a bad media

Hey All, Hope you all are doing well. !!!! Today we faced an issue with our backup. The backup stopped with an error "EXITING with status 84". It clear says that media is bad and we need to change. But the thing is if we change the media, we will have to start the whole backup again. The backup has done 62TB out of 93 TB. Currently in that failed media 2.2TB has been written, is there any possibility this 2.2TB can be written in new media without the canceling the current job? Netbackup Version = 8.1.2 Media used = LTO6 Dell TL2000 Let me know if you need any information. Thanks in advance, Ajju.

Sorry, don't quite get it - if the root job is gone with Error 84 and not Suspended then you have no way of "continuing" it. You have to re-run the job.

The only exception would be a filesystem backup job with checkpoints enabled but it would seat in the scheduler waiting for you to resume it.

There is nothing that can 'magically' transfer the data written to a faulty tape to a new tape.
If the tape is really faulty (nothing can be read from it) and the job cannot be resumed, then your only option is to restart the entire job on a new tape.

Hello,

if possible, I recommend you to divide source data into smaller parts (subvolumes, subfolders, paritions,...etc) a these backup individually/paralelly. 92 TB backup saved sequentially on x tapes - you will restore such a backup for ages.
