Hi all,
I have been tasked with setting up a backup solution for about 50TB's of data that sits on a FC SAN. This SAN at present time does not have a switch for some reason... We are currently not backing up the data on here so I would like to purpose the following.
1. Purchase a new physical server with a FC NIC (New Netbackup Master server)
2. FB Switch
3. Connect all the servers to this FB switch.
What I'm trying to accomplish is faster backup times. If I connect 2 servers to a fiber swtich, will both servers backup off the LAN? Would I need Netbackup Fiber Transport Media server to accomplish this? Right now my thinking is One Master server, and one media server. Then make one of the servers the master of the robot. Will this accomplish my goal of keeping data within the SAN?
Solved! Go to Solution.

You need SAN Client for that capability.
Here's the 7.5 guide for that

Meta data will alway be sent back to the Master by LAN, you can't get around that but with SAN client you can send the actual file data from clients over the SAN to your drives.
