HI,
1)One of the Media server connected one drive in the tape robot controls the robotic arm?
Netbackup Media Servers connected to one drive in the tape robot but with no control of the robotic arm?
What do the above scenarios mean? And whats the difference ?
2)Through the Java Console it is possible to get the GUI for the winodws NetBAckup servers,is it the same for the Unix/Linux?

There can only be on server that controls the robotics. If there are more than one then there would be a struggle for control and the robot will not work. The robotic controller does NOT have to be a media server. Many people use the master server to run the robotics but it is not necessary to have a master server run the robotics. It is also possible for a media server to run the robotics. All media servers must acknowledge the remote server that is running the robotics so that they can request tapes to be loaded into their attached tape drive or put back into the library
.Your first statement describes a media server being used for robotic control and having one dedicated tape drive.
Your second statement refers to several media servers sharing a single tape drive and is called Shared Storage Option (SSO) and they acknowledge a remote server having robotic control.

Yes, the java GUI can access UNIX/LINUX servers as well as window servers. You need to add the username and set the permissions in the /usr/openv/java/auth.conf file.
