Running SORT (General Questions)

I am preparing to upgrade my environment from 7.6.0.2 to 7.6.1.2. I have never run SORT before and I am sure it is very straight forward, but just to be safe I wanted to check here to make sure that there are no gotcha's to be concerned about.

I have one master that is running Solaris 10 and another that is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.7. The Solaris one is my primary environment while the Linux one is the DR environment that I replicate to. I also have quite a few media servers with varying OS's to include the previously mentioned ones as well as Windows.

Basically I just wanted to ensure that nothing in the script will cause any issues and how exactly I should be running the script. Just copy it to /tmp and run it? Does it need to be run on just the master or all master and media servers? Does it need to be run on the OpsCenter server?

Sorry if all of this has been mentioned before, but I was having trouble finding and all encompassing thread related to SORT. I'd just rather be safe than sorry.

Also after I complete the SORT process I was curious if its ok to upgrade my DR environment and let that cook for a week or so before doing my primary environment or if there would be an issue trying to replicate between the primary and DR environments if one is still 7.6.0.2 while the other is upgraded to 7.6.1.2?

Its perfectly safe to run the data collector from SORT site.

If you're going to upgrade DR first but if possible dont replicate to it (I assume you're using AIR).

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO32575 for guidance to run Sort.

Run sort on master and media servers. Its completely safe and will not harm your Netbackup installation in any way.

You don't need to upload the result to sort.symantec.com - a text and xml file will be placed local to see the result.

Remember to update sort regular if you do not have a direct internet connection.

Sort can use a internet proxy by setting the https_proxy variable before running sort.

Replicatoin should work.

There are some differences in  7.6.0 and 7.6.1 but i think they relate more to how the object are access. Maybe open a support case to check about the version compatibility and report back so we all know.
