SAP HANA Backup from Physical to Virtual Machine

Hello,

A customer is asking if it's possible to use Netbackup for their SAP HANA appliance and replicate it to a virtual machine?  Purpose is no one is maintaining their SAP HANA appliance so they want it be converted to a virtual machine using Netbackup.

Hello,

what is supported by NetBackup is a redirected restore of SAP HANA databases. It is documented in NetBackup for SAP Admin Guide.

I would not call it "replication" or "conversion", it is just one-time restore. I suppose you must have appropriate target VM+SAP machine purchased & prepared first - see https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/business-critical-apps/vmware-sap-... for more.

Thanks for the response. I'll look into this.  So does it mean that it's possible to backup a SAP HANA database from an appliance and restore it to a supported target SAP HANA and VMWare certified hardware?
