If it was me, I'd push it back to the SAP group as they don't have something setup right for that instance.  If the backup is working from other instances then it's not a NetBackup problem, it's strickly a config issue on their side... that said, I'm out of my league now... sorry.

I'm not an SAP expert by any means, but I would start with something basic.  I would make sure that the version of backint in the /usr/osap/SM7/SYS/exe/run/ is the same as what you have in the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin directory.  You can check the file size and date/time stamps to make sure...

In our environment the SAP team does a softlink from where they want to run backup and the actual backint binary in the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin directory.

Anyway, that's where I would start...

That script that is being run calls:

/usr/sap/SM7/SYS/exe/run/backint -u SM7 -f backup -i /oracle/SM7/sapbackup/.bedubwic.lst -t file_online -c

can you check the version info for the /usr/sap/SM7/SYS/exe/run/backint file?

That is what I was talking about in the previous post.

Has this script run before?

It appears to me that you're missing the utl file... which get's specified with the -p.  I confirmed this with our SAP guys... here's what our command looks like:

'backint -u QSR -f backup -i /oracle/QSR/sapbackup/.beduddtb.lst -t file -p /oracle/QSR/sapscripts/backup/initQSR.netb.utl -c'

Can you track down where your utl file lives and try that?

Thanks.

I would check to make sure that the environment is setup correctly on this server.  Is it possible that the environment is setup a bit differently on the other working server so that it is able to find the missing files by itself?

Try updating the script so that you specify the -p and the utl file path.

Also, you should probably involve your SAP team, and get them to look at this.
