SLP and primary copy control...

This is probably an easy question to answer... I have a number of SLPs which are configured as follows:

Backup -> Advanced Disk (1 wk retention; capacity managed)

Dupe -> Tape Library (1 yr retention)

Dupe -> MSDP (1 mo retention)

Replication -> Offsite MSDP (1 mo retention)

Now the Adv Disk copy is primary until it expires due to capacity.  It looks like my images are then using the tape copy as primary.  Is it simply a matter of me rearranging the order of operation in my SLP as such:

Backup -> Advanced Disk (1 wk retention; capacity managed)

Dupe -> MSDP (1 mo retention)

Replication -> Offsite MSDP (1 mo retention)

Dupe -> Tape Library (1 yr retention)

Thanks!

Off the top of my head, I think that will do the trick. Have you tried it?

Not yet... I'm loathe to change anything in the environment any more...

The change only applies to future backup & duplication. For those previously-done images, you still need to manually promote the msdp copy to be primary, if you intend to have all disk copies changed as primary.
