SLP when a Tape Library has died

Brucecampbell

Our Tape Library died and so we have installed a replacement. The issue we are having is that our SLP has duplications to tape still to run on the old tape library (which is dead).

Is there a way to redirect these existing duplications to tape to the new library?

Easiest would be if you added the new library and Storage Unit with the same parameters as the old devices.
But if there are different drive types in the robot, then the drive density and STU name will be different.
For instance,  robot 0 with LTO5 drives will probably have STU name similar to this:
media-server-hcart2-robot-tld-0

robot 0 (assuming you deleted robot 0 before adding new robot with same number of 0) with LTO6 drives may have STU name similar to this:
media-server-hcart3-robot-tld-0

Anyway, if the STU name has changed and you have updated the SLP with new STU name, then you need to modify the previous SLP version to use the new STU name.

Yes, you can use nbstl to change the residence on the SLP in all versions.

There is technote about how to do it, unfortunately I do not have the number or exact title here.

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue
